Ash Wednesday

Tomorrow, March 5, is Ash Wednesday.  Traditionally, Ash Wednesday is a day when Christians from a variety of traditions get the sign of the cross marked on their forehead in ashes.  When I was young, I thought this was something only Catholics did, but that is certainly not the case. 

In case you have questions about why we mark ourselves with ashes or about the significance/background of the season of Lent in general, here's a video that sums it all up in two minutes.  It's likely you've seen this video before, but even if you have, it's a good reminder of what Ash Wednesday is (and is not) as well as what the season of Lent is all about.
